Sunday
I was coming up on the curve of Waves End, about to run past Gage’s buddy, Jarrett’s house.
I get an impression… “Lean in.”
I probably heard KB rap something that sparked that.
Some of life feels lean to me right now.
As in parched, wearisome or confused, even lonely.
Professional work, the intimate sense of the Spirit’s presence, motivation.
This is probably spiritual.
It’s also within my control.
It’s simply time to lean in.
Lean in and focus.
As man and professional, I’ve been here before.
As a family, we’ve been here before.
As mature adult doing the best you know how, you’ve been here before.
Lean in. And not necessarily in a spiritual sense, unless that makes sense for you.
Lean into work, goals, rest, relationships. Lean into discipline. Lean into taking hold of your potential.
Lean into the now… the right now.
We are dying, That’s real. Every day is one day less.
Not to be morbid… to be aware.
Your kids aren’t in a holding pattern. There is no Cryogenic sleep.
If we want to work toward an awesome future, leaning into today is the only way.
Every today is tomorrow’s yesterday. Today will be the past in just a few hours.
What you do now is what writes the story. Either you’ll look back on today with healthy pride and satisfaction… or regret, like nearly everyone does when they reach the end.
The way we live in a future we’re proud of is by giving our best to this day.
Belief without supportive action backing you up is worthless. And a terrible tease. You know that too well.
Maybe, when the season is lean, it’s simply time to deliver our best… and trust.

I needed this, personally. So, I figured I’d share it… just in case you did too.
Take the step…
